Cable and DSL Internet - How to Choose what is Best for Youself

There are several forms of broadband internet connection, both with a lot of great features, advantages
and disadvantages, and as a result making it almost impossible for users to know what to go with. Two
of the most common forms of broadband internet connection available to the world today are the cable
and DSL internet services and this article will be comparing both services in order to guide you as to
which of the two might be best for you.

When it comes to Security, DSL is better

We all have various reasons for using the internet. While some people only use the internet for
multimedia and transferring large files there are also people who use the internet mainly to trade
confidential information. If you are someone who prefers to have fun online and watch a lot of videos
everyday then cable internet might be better, but if you favor more security you will be better off going
with DSL.

Cable Internet Speed is determined by the Number of People on the Same Cable Line

One thing you might want to really think about before deciding to subscribe to a cable internet service is
that the cable internet speed you get is determined by the number of people on the same cable line as
you, whereas the speed you get by using DSL is more stable.

My point is that, with cable internet, you cannot predict the speed you will be getting at any given
time – you might be used to getting high download speeds at a particular time of the day, and you
might login one day to get slower speeds at that particular period due to the fact that a lot of people
are making effective use of a particular special event online at the same time. In order words, with cable
internet, the more people online the slower your internet connection will be.

Cable Internet is linked with TV Subscription

If you’re someone who already has a cable TV subscription then this might be good news for you,
however, if you don’t have and don’t need cable TV service you might still need to be paying for it. Cable
internet is often tied with the cable TV service and, in most cases; the only way to get it is by subscribing
to the cable TV service.

If you already have cable TV access it means you no longer need to pay for internet access—you
might need to pay an activation fee, but you will be able to get internet access with your monthly TV
subscription.

Cable Internet is Always Online

The major thing you might want to consider about cable internet is that, unlike DSL, it is always
connected to the internet. What that means is that even when you reboot or start up your computer
you don’t have to go through any hassles to connect to the internet. Your internet connection will be
active already – all you need to do is connect and start browsing.

I’m Paul Tobis, a cable and broadband internet expert. I’m always happy to review and recommend the
best cable service in my area.
